Welcome

The Chesapeake Bay Field Lab (CBFL) is a non-profit organization providing environmental tours for students and groups on one of Maryland's last Skipjacks and from an operational oyster shucking house on St. George Island in the Potomac River.

Shoreside Discovery Lab and Skipjack classes operate April through November and our Oyster House facility/museum is available for educational, community and civic meetings.

Currently, all classes are suspended until the summer of 2012 due to required restoration work on the skipjack the Dee of St. Mary's.

With the support from the Maryland Heritage Areas Authority, Preservation Maryland, Cove Point Natural Heritage Trust and members/contributors to CBFL, we hope to have the Dee completely restored this year!

The Dee was selected by Preservation Maryland for the 2011 Endangered List, and appeared in the March/April issue of Maryland Life Magazine.
